A Labyrinth Is Born

Chelsea à la Chartres™

April 2022:

·Thanks to a generous $19,000 anonymous donation and the idea germ sown during Mother Mag’s tenure, Zion is now ready to proceed with its own labyrinth – to the greater glory of God!

Labyrinths have appeared throughout the centuries all over Christendom where they have served as an instrument of contemplation about our walk with Christ. The word “labyrinth” means an intricate network of winding paths.

A team, authorized by Zion’s Vestry, carefully considered numerous designs, and selected the above design.  The side property was chosen as optimum location. Construction of the 30 foot labyrinth will start shortly and work will be done by Hudson Habitats.

In the near future, we will send out information about a campaign to sell engraved bricks.
Please consider donating a brick, perhaps in memory of a loved one who has joined the Church Triumphant.

As the project unfolds, please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

WALKING OUR LABYRINTH

Our labyrinth has been used already and members of our local community are thrilled with it! Here are some suggestions on how to use it for prayer and meditation:

1.   Invite God to walk with you- this is “you and He time”. Ask for grace to hear Him and respond to Him. If you have any particular intentions or needs, name them here and think of them as you walk.

2.   Enter the path and know that God is with you now. Go at a natural pace and try to notice what is happening in your mind and your heart. Let your prayers unfold and trust God’s guidance.

3.   Give thanks as you reach the center.

4.   As you walk out, think of your intentions or needs as you entered and remember God’s presence is with you.

5.   Afterwards, reflect on your walk and your meditation. Think of how you feel now.

The labyrinth committee will be holding a meeting very soon to discuss the placing of a plaque to explain to walkers how to walk the labyrinth, about what plantings may be added, and the update on memorial bricks. Please look for this update in an upcoming article!
